Welcome to confederate dollars I started this site to help people with the hobby of
collecting Confederate currency. I began collecting Confederate
currency in 1997 on a trip to Fort Pulaski near Savannah GA. When I
was in the gift shop I saw a package of reproduction Confederate
dollars, I bought the currency and when I looked at it I wonted to
see some real currency, so I went to a local coin shop when I was
there they only had one confederate bill it was a State of Georgia
$50 dollar EF condition, it was listed at the shop for $135 I talked
him down to $ 85 and later I found it was worth $35. After that I
realized that if I was going to make this my new hobby I need to do
some more research.
Confederate paper money is collected in the South, North, East, and West - it knows no Mason-Dixon line but is esteemed as one of the most interesting series of American currency. Collecting Confederate currency is like drinking fine wine in that the more you educate your palette, the more you want the good stuff. Once you start collecting the notes that are relatively inexpensive and easy to find you will no doubt start desiring the difficult 'Montgomery' notes and other obscure notes that can carry a five-figure price tag for a single note! The goal of many Confederate collectors is to get an entire 'type' set, that is to say one each of the 72 Criswell types, or perhaps you just want to collect all of the many varieties of a single note. However you decide to collect Confederate notes, you can be sure that it will be a fascinating journey into this unique window into our nation's past. When you are to start collecting visit are for sale page and start collecting and if you have any question just E-Mail me. Thank you Charles
